Chitty Pong Racing (Jam Entry)

My submission for Programancers' 4th Retrograde Jam. A top down racing game with adventure elements, that takes inspiration from Micromachines and Diddy Kong Racing, in the style of a Mega Drive game circa. 1993.

Instructions:

Click start. Using L-CTRL to accelerate and L-ALT to backup, with A/D you can orientate your ship so that you can fly around the hub area. There are three locations available and in the shipwreck you can fire your gun with the Enter key.

Featuring three modes of gameplay you can land on Epsilon Indi A for a standard race with adventure; pick-up strawberries to get a speed boost. A strife race around Epsilon Indi Star which is a 1v1 struggle. Can you displace your competitor-- your guns are working for this battle. As a bonus there is a pac-man-esq mode upon the Abandoned Ship where you must collect all the crates to leave the shipwreck, or have to most spoils at the end of 60 secs against two opponents. You can shoot them to dislodge their cargo.

If you find yourself lost you can always Escape the Epsilon Indi system with the press of a button.

Known issues:

The AI and collision handling is jank.
